DonNTU broadens the horizons of cooperation with the British Council

The British Council in Ukraine has launched a new project “Media for Youth Centers”. The project was started in partnership with the Hyper-local Community Media School within the Active Citizens program with a view to raising the citizens’ awareness of civic journalism. The project aims at enhancing interaction and communication with the community through the use of modern digital technologies.

80 participants from different regions of the country were involved in the project, Among them there were representatives of Donetsk National Technical University: Yana Kot, Deputy Head of the Department of Educational Activities for Students, Sergey Bilyansky, a 3rd year student, and Maxim Mostytsky, a 1st year student. The participants actively participated in the study of the basics of strategic planning of the organizations in the social media, site development management as well as writing qualitative interviews by the journalistic standards. The training program included two three-day trainings and a series of webinars.

The second part of the training was aimed at acquiring practical skills in social media and the Internet by using online and mobile technologies. The program also included the development of creative thinking, media analysis, SEO, photo and video content development in social networks and through specialized sites.

7Within the framework of the project, the British Councilin cooperation with DonNTU, organized a three-day training “Active Citizens” for the local community of the city of Pokrovsk, which was facilitated by Anton Kolwah. The training was aimed at making the community active, identifying current social problems, establishing a mutual dialogue and preparing mini-projects.

In general, the active participation in the British Council project enabled all the participants to gain useful knowledge and skills for the implementation of new and exciting ideas in our university and city!
