ANNOUNCEMENT International Competition of the best scientific works on hydrogen-induced phase transformations published in 1993–2003 (the HIPT-Competition) |
|
ORGANIZERS:
International Association for Hydrogen Energy
(IAHE)
Joint Scientific and Coordinational Council on the Prospects of Transition to Hydrogen Economy
(JSC-Council)
Permanent Working International Scientific Committee on Hydrogen Treatment of Materials
(PWISC HTM)
taking into account that:
• a materials–hydrogen problem is a key problem of the Hydrogen Economy development in the 21st century,
• hydrogen-induced phase transformations (HIPT) are the basis:
•• for hydrogen treatment of materials aimed to improve structure and properties of materials, and to create new advanced ones (hydrides, membranes, electrodes, and the like),
•• for hydrogen degradation theory and preventing technologies aimed to avoid unpredicted wreck in the up-to-date and future hydrogen industry,
perceive a necessity to attract the world hydrogen movement and hydrogen–materials community attention to this key problem and
ANNOUNCE
an International world-wide competition of the best scientific works on hydrogen-induced phase transformations published (accepted for publication in 2003) in 1993–2003.
Nominations of the HIPT-Competition:
► Low temperature diffusive–cooperative (hydride) HIPT;
► High temperature diffusive HIPT (an HDDR-process);
► Intermediate HIPT (ordering–disordering, segregation, amorphization, and the like);
► HIPT and hydrogen-assisted phase transformations (HAPT) in polymorphous metals and alloys (Ti, Zr, Fe, and the like);
► Magnetic HIPT;
► Metal-semiconductor and metal–dielectric HIPT;
► The HIPT thermodynamics, kinetics, atomic and structure mechanisms;
► Use of HIPT as the basis for hydrogen treatment to improve materials structure and properties.
The goals of the HIPT-Competition are
► to open up fresh opportunities in vision of main points of HIPT as a unified field of science;
► to generalize knowledge of this very important field of science;
► to congregate and consolidate this small hydrogen subcommunity;
► to grace of the HIPT-Competition winners with honour.
A HIPT-Competition publicity, scientific opportunities of the participants, gracing the winners with honour
All information about the HIPT-Competition procedure is available for public and scientific community inspection on a special internet Web-page: http://donntu.edu.ua/hydrogen/.
The information about the participants and their scientific achievements will have been available on the same Web-page since October 10, 2003.
Some participants will have a possibility to make an oral presentation at Special Session “Hydrogen-induced Phase Transformations” which will be held during the 4th International Conference “Hydrogen Treatment of Materials” (HTM-2004), May 17–21, 2004, Donetsk, Ukraine (visit http://donntu.edu.ua/hydrogen/).
Participants – winners of the Competition of every nomination in honour of their Outstanding (Excellent) Achievement will be awarded by the honorary Gold (Silver) Diplomas of IAHE.
The Honorary Gold (Silver) Diplomas will be proudly presented to the winners on a solemn ceremony during the Plenary Opening Session of the HTM-2004 (May 17, 2004).
Information about the HIPT-Competition winners will be published in a special issue of the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy devoted to the HTM-2004 Conference.
