Professor Alexander A. Ilyin graduated from the MATI after K. Tsiolkovsky in 1974. In 1993 he maintained Doctoral thesis and became Full Professor. Now he is a Head of the Department.
In 1996 he was presented with the P. Anosov’s Award of the Russian Academy of Sciences for a series of works “Material science of advanced structural alloys on the base of intermetallic compounds”. In 1997 he became the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
A.A. Ilyin is a founder of the scientific school and actively develops scientific and research work in the field of: physico-chemical processes of hydrogen interaction with metallic materials, theory of diffusive, diffusive-cooperative and nondiffusive phase transformations in hydrogenated multicomponent systems on the base of titanium and its intermetallics; advanced highly effective, ecologically clean technologies of structural and functional metallic materials, including technologies based on reversible or permanent hydrogen alloying (thermohydrogen treatment, hydrogen plastification).
