Dr. F.H. Froes received his education in England: DC (University of Liverpool), MS and PhD (University of Sheffield), all in physical metallurgy. He worked at Crucible Research Center in Pittsburgh, PA, for eleven years, followed by eleven years at the USAF Materials Laboratory in Dayton, OH. Currently, he is Director of the Institute for Materials and Advanced Processes (IMAP) at the University of Idaho, Moscow, ID. He is a Fellow of ASM International and a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He received the Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Award from MPIF in 1993, was the recipient of the University of Idaho Outstanding Research Award in 1994–95 and was presented with the TMS Structural Materials Division Distinguished Service Award in 1998. Dr. Froes has more than 600 technical publications, 52 patents and has edited almost 25 books.
