Professor Georgiy P. BORISOV is well known for his fundamental researches in the field of the theory of hydrodynamic, thermal-physical and crystallization processes, casting formation by means of a regulated force action upon liquid and solidifying aluminium alloys. His joint model for the structure of a liquid and solid-liquid state is an essential contribution to the theory of structural heredity during phase transformation.
Under his leadership detailed studies of the influence of internal and external gas pressure on the processes of a different type gas and shrinkage cavities formation in castings have been performed. Achievements in this field became the background for a number of new casting technologies, in particular, the so-called ˘??hydrogen casting technologies˘?T, wich are based on a preliminary hydrogen treatment of the melt.
