Alexander Anato1iyevich Minayev is a scientist-metallurgist. In 1964 he graduated from Donetsk Polytechnic Institute. Since 1965 he has been working at Donetsk State Technical University. His titles were: research fe11ow, Associate Professor, Fu11 Professor, Head of the Department, Rector.

In 1972 he took the Ph.D degree and in 1989 - the degree of Doctor of Science and became a Full Professor in 1990. He is Honoured Scientist of Ukraine ( 1992). He has developed the theoretica1 basis for the contro11ed ro11 of the grade metals from carbon and low-alloyed steels. He developed the classification of the types of the aligned temperature and deforming influence on quality characteristics of the grade meta1 when the technologica1 operations are alternated.

He stated the regulations of the mechanism of forming of mechanical characteristics and factors which provide the directed influence on the structure of the carbon and 1ow-alloyed steels on the basis of which he proposed and implemented into production the technologica1 schemes of the bars with the given complex of mechanica1 characteristics. He delivered 6 general and specia1 courses.

18 Scientists took their Ph.D. degrees under his supervision. He is the author of more than 250 scientific papers, among them there are 7 monographs, handbooks and manuals, 80 patents. He has papers written in collaboration with the scientists from Poland, Slovakia, Russia, England, Germany.

Prof. Minayev is a member of the Academy of Science of Higher School of Ukraine (1990), the Academy of Engineering Science of Ukraine (1991), European Society for Engineering Education (1994), ASM International Material Information Society (1994), European Association for International Education (1995) and the International Academy of Sciences, Industry, Education & Arts of California (USA, 1996).
