The Ukrainian magazine Correspondent has analyzed the data on 330 Ukrainian education establishments of the III and IV accreditation level obtained from the Ministry of Science and Education, Higher Education Methodological Centre, other independent sources and experts, and identified 55 leading universities of different fields of specialization.

   Donetsk National Technical University occupied the second position in the group of polytechnic universities, the National University Kievskaya Polytechnica being the first.

   The main criteria were as follows: enrolment competition as the index of the popularity, and the mark given to the graduates by the employers as the index of their demand in the labour market. The latter takes into account the opinion of the Ukrainian Employers Federation and leading personnel agencies of Kiev. The different indices data were summed up and the position of each university within the rating list was defined.
