A visit of the General Consul of Germany in our region, Wolfgang Moussinger, to DonNTU is always an extraordinary event. Mr. Wolfgang Moussinger is an old friend of our University and two years ago became an Honorary Professor of DonNTU. Our german friend is keenly interested in the university life and constantly supports and helps the university students and professors. And this time, Mr. General Consul arrived at our University with a pleasant mission: to hand over the new technological equipment for the Laboratory of Water, which was created with the direct participation of Mr. Wolfgang Moussinger.

The new equipment is a laboratory mill with an independent cooling system, which enables crushing solid substances to a fraction of 10 microns for water purification. Another piece of equipment that is available now is a pipette which can transfer micro doses of liquid – from 50 to 200 microliters, or 0,05 – 0,2 milliliters. Previously, approximate dosing was used in the research. Only after receiving the new equipment the research has become more precise.

According to the Head of Department of Chemical Technologies, Yevgen Zbykovskyy, in order to receive exact results of water analysis one needs to prepare a solid mixture of several components and evenly mixed at a laboratory mill, and also to measure in micro doses of liquids by a special pipette. Now all that is possible thanks to the new equipment. The equipment can also be used while researching new materials, including sorbents for water purification.

The equipment is already actively used by the teachers and students for doing research and studying. The function of the Laboratory of Water is of practical value for region, which enables businesses and individuals to contribute to the solution of the water quality problem due to the newest equipment of the Department of Chemical Technologies of DonNTU.

While giving an interview at the local TV station, Mr. Wolfgang Moussinger noted that paying a visit to DonNTU, as well as communicating with the university teachers and students, helping scholars and facilitating new scientific researches is always a pleasant experience for him.
